System requirements
Crawlpit Monster is a lightweight Mac app. Here is what you need to run it, and what to expect on different machines.
Supported macOS
Crawlpit Monster runs on macOS 12 or later. Older versions of macOS are not supported and may not launch the app.
Mac builds
There are two builds, and you want the one that matches your chip:
- Apple Silicon for Macs with an M1, M2, M3, or newer chip.
- Intel for older Macs with an Intel processor.
To check which you have, open the Apple menu and choose About This Mac. See Install on Mac for details.
Memory and disk
The app itself is modest. Two things use more:
- Memory rises with large crawls, and more so with JavaScript rendering, since rendering runs a browser engine. A typical modern Mac handles normal crawls comfortably; very large rendered crawls benefit from more RAM.
- Disk use is small. Crawl data is stored efficiently on your machine, so even a long history of crawls stays compact.
| Requirement | Detail |
|---|---|
| Operating system | macOS 12 or later |
| Chip | Apple Silicon or Intel (matching build) |
| Memory | Comfortable on a typical modern Mac; more helps for large rendered crawls |
| Disk | Small for the app and crawl data |
Windows
A Windows version is planned but not yet available. Today, Crawlpit Monster is Mac only.
Performance on older machines
The app runs on older supported Macs, but big crawls and JavaScript rendering are heavier, so they take longer on less powerful hardware. For a large rendered crawl on an older machine, lowering the page limit for a first pass keeps things responsive.
Frequently asked questions
Does it work on Intel Macs?
Yes. There is a dedicated Intel build alongside the Apple Silicon one.
What macOS version do I need?
macOS 12 or later. Earlier versions are not supported.
Is there a Windows version?
Not yet. Windows is planned; today the app is Mac only.
How much memory and disk do I need?
A typical modern Mac is fine. Memory matters most for large crawls with rendering on; disk use stays small.
