The fair-use handshake.
The rules for using Crawlpit Monster and this website, in plain language. Short, because we hold you to little.
The short version
- Use it freely to audit your own sites and your clients'. Commercial use is fine.
- Only crawl sites you own or have permission to crawl. You are responsible for what you point it at.
- It is beta, free, and provided as is, so use your judgment and expect the occasional rough edge.
- Your crawl data is yours. The app, name, and logo are ours.
Agreeing to these terms
These terms cover your use of the Crawlpit Monster app and this website. By downloading the app or using the site, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use them.
The license we give you
We grant you a personal, worldwide, non-exclusive license to install and use Crawlpit Monster on Macs you control, for your own work and for clients you audit. Commercial use is fine, since that is what the tool is for.
In return, please do not:
- resell, rent, or redistribute the app
- reverse-engineer, decompile, or try to extract its source, except where the law expressly allows it
- remove or alter our notices, name, or logo
- present the app, in whole or in part, as your own product
Using it responsibly
Crawlpit Monster fetches pages from websites, and you are responsible for what you point it at. Please:
- only crawl sites you own or have permission to crawl
- respect each site's rules and do not use the tool to overload a server
- do not use it to break the law, access data you are not authorized to see, or infringe anyone's rights
You, not us, are responsible for your crawls and for how you use what you find.
Your data
Your crawl data, projects, and reports are yours. They stay on your machine, and we claim no ownership of them or of the sites you audit. Our Privacy policy explains how little we hold.
Beta software
Crawlpit Monster is in beta. It is free for now and provided as is. That means:
- features may change, appear, or be removed as we develop it
- you may hit bugs or rough edges, and some results may be incomplete
- we may change or discontinue the app, though we will give reasonable notice before anything major, and before paid licenses begin
Updates
The app may check for and install updates so you have the latest fixes. Updates are covered by these same terms.
Our intellectual property
The app, the Crawlpit Monster name and logo, and the content of this website are ours and are protected by intellectual property law. These terms do not give you any rights to our brand. Your license is to use the app, not to own any part of it.
Third-party sites
When you crawl a website, that is between you and whoever runs it. We are not responsible for those sites, their content, or your dealings with them.
Disclaimer
Crawlpit Monster reports what it finds, but it does not guarantee results. Search rankings depend on many things outside any single tool. To the fullest extent the law allows, the app and this website are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, including that they will be error-free, uninterrupted, or fit for a particular purpose.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for lost data, profit, or business, arising from your use of the app or this website. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited by law.
Ending your use
You can stop using Crawlpit Monster at any time by deleting it. We may suspend or end access, or discontinue the app, where we need to, for example to comply with the law or to retire the product. Your locally stored data stays yours and on your machine.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the product grows. We will change the date at the top, and for meaningful changes we will note it on the site.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of [your jurisdiction], without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and any disputes will be handled by the courts there.
