Your data stays yours.
Crawlpit Monster is built to hold as little of your information as possible. Here is exactly what that means, in plain language.
The short version
- The app collects nothing about the sites you crawl. That data lives only on your Mac, and we have no way to see it.
- This website has no tracking cookies and no ad trackers. That is why you did not see a cookie banner.
- The only personal data we hold is your email, and only if you join the newsletter or write to us.
- We never sell your data. Not now, not later.
The app and your crawl data
When you crawl a site with Crawlpit Monster, everything happens on your own Mac. The pages it fetches, the issues it finds, and the reports and history it builds are all stored locally, in your operating system's user data folder. None of it is sent to us or to anyone else.
We do not have servers that receive your crawl data, because there are none to build. We could not access it if we wanted to. There is also no account and no login, so we do not hold a username, a password, or a profile for you.
Software updates
So the app can tell you when a new version is available, it may check our update server. That check can include basic technical details such as the app version and your operating system, so we can serve the correct update. It never includes anything about the sites you crawl. You can ignore updates, and once automatic updates are in place you will be able to turn the checks off in settings.
This website
This site does not use tracking cookies, advertising trackers, or cross-site profiling.
- Analytics. We use a privacy-first analytics tool that counts page views and traffic sources in aggregate. It does not set cookies, does not follow you across other sites, and does not collect information that identifies you personally.
- Server logs. Like almost every website, our host keeps standard logs, such as IP address and browser type, for a short time to keep the site secure and running. These are not used to build a profile of you.
The newsletter
If you sign up, we collect your email address so we can send you the newsletter and the audit kit you asked for. We store it with our email provider, use it only to send our own content, and never sell or rent it. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe, and you can ask us to delete your address at any time.
Contacting us
When you email us or use the contact form, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to write. We use that only to reply and to help you, and we keep it no longer than is useful to resolve your question.
Downloads
The app is served over HTTPS from our host. Downloading it produces the same standard server logs described above. We do not ask for any information in order to download the app.
Payments
Crawlpit Monster is free during the beta, so we do not currently collect any payment information. When paid licenses arrive, payment will be handled by a third-party payment provider, and we will update this policy to say exactly what they process before that happens. We do not plan to see or store your full card details ourselves.
Who we share data with
We do not sell your data, and we share it only with the small set of service providers we need to run the basics:
- an email platform, to store subscribers and send the newsletter
- a website host and content delivery network, to serve this site and the download
- a privacy-first analytics provider, for aggregate traffic statistics
- in future, a payment provider, once paid licenses exist
Each receives only what it needs to do its job. Some of these providers may process data in other countries, and we choose ones that handle it responsibly. We will keep this list current as our setup changes.
Your rights
Because we hold so little, this is simple:
- Your crawl data is already yours and lives only on your machine. You can delete it by removing your projects or the app's data folder.
- If you are subscribed, you can unsubscribe in one click, or ask us to delete your email.
- You can ask what personal data we hold about you, which in practice is at most your email, and ask us to correct or delete it.
- Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA. We will honor valid requests.
To make any request, email privacy@crawlpit.monster.
How long we keep things
We keep your newsletter email until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove it. We keep support emails only as long as they are useful. Server logs are kept briefly. Your crawl data is kept by you, for as long as you choose, on your own machine.
Children
Crawlpit Monster is a professional tool and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. For meaningful changes, we will say so on the site, and if it affects subscribers, by email.
